Sonya Dunbar’s influence extends well beyond the clinic. She is the author of “Golden Nuggets for Life,” and co-author of “The Tooth and Nothing but the Truth: A Geriatric Dental Hygienist and Geriatric Dentist’s Guide to Oral Care for the Aging Population,” and “An Introduction to Mobile & Teledentistry: How Technology, Consumer Demand & Prevention Are Shaping the Future of Dentistry.” Her written works are a testament to her dedication to education and promoting oral care.

Sonya produces “The Suave & Sassy Senior Show with Sonya,” where she interviews seniors from around the world who are achieving remarkable things and living their best lives.  She also co-hosts the podcast, “Dentistry Gone Wild,” and the movement known as “I Woman Podcast.” In addition, she is the co-founder of the “National Mobile & Teledentistry Conference,” the “American Mobile & Teledentistry Alliance” and “The Denobi Awards.”

Her contributions to the field of dentistry and her advocacy for senior dental health have not gone unnoticed. Her accolades include the “Health & Wellness Award” from ACHI Magazine in 2019, the “FPL Quality Senior Living Award” from Senior Vision Media in 2019, “Philips Heart to Hands Award” in 2020, the City of Jacksonville, Florida, proclaiming November 9th as “Senior Dental Health Day” in 2020 and and National Day Archives, LLC proclamation of November 9th of each calendar year as Geriatric Toothfairy Day in the US..
